« I've had moderate sleep maintenance insomnia since the COVID-19 pandemic. I came across HALEO while searching for solutions. I've tried many different things to help with my sleep, including Neurofeedback. I read that CBT-I is the most effective solution for chronic insomnia.
The HALEO clinic sets you up with a therapist and takes you through a program of helping you to reset your sleep. Most of the program happens through the HALEO app, which is fairly well made for the most part. The program really consists of re-training the way you think about sleep and educating you about how to manage and optimize your sleep using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy practices. The therapist was very supportive and helpful to understand how to use the CBT-I tools to help reshape my sleep. The app also contains useful articles and resources that are unlocked as you progress through the therapy.
If you've suffered from insomnia for a long time, don't expect your sleep to be completely fixed within the few short weeks of the duration of the therapy. In fact, some of the CBT-I practices are not easy and require significant effort, especially the sleep restriction. However, these practices help put you on the right path towards progressive improvement. Since I started the therapy, in 5 weeks I was able to improve my sleep to the point where I no longer need to take sleep medication and can get a pretty decent night's sleep on my own. I still need to continue making improvements but the therapy definitely changed a lot of the negative thoughts I had about sleep and improved the overall quality of my nights. I feel more confident that l'll be able to manage my sleep moving forward because of the tools that the therapy provided through CBT-I. »
