Rod Ezekiel, Business Development Manager

“Around 19% of the population has chronic insomnia, and about 45–50% of all shift workers have chronic sleep conditions. We focus on helping them, and for me, that’s a huge win. It’s exciting to be able to participate in helping people who are vulnerable and who really need such help.”

Many talents

Rod is certified in management by the Canadian Institute of Management, where he completed a 4-year program. He also has a diploma in nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN), which enabled him to work as a nutritionist, as well as a certificate on work’s mental health from Queen’s University, not to mention several other qualifications. He taught nutrition and business at CSNN and was a professional health coach. He then broadened his horizons by taking up writing, publishing his book “Your soul’s quest”, which brings together his interests in helping people find their way in professional life, and he has been an entrepreneur, founding numerous highly successful projects. Prior to joining HALEO, he held the position of director of business development in Western Canada for TELUS Health for 11 years.

Mental health

If there’s one main theme that stands out from Rod’s many qualifications and professions, it’s undoubtedly his interest in mental health. Although not a scientist himself, and as he describes himself as “a lifelong researcher for longevity and optimum health”, he has worked all his life in mental health circles, helping people discover that there are solutions to life’s problems. Whether through his book, his work as a professional health coach, his work as a nutritionist or as a director at TELUS Health, he has never left this field.

Kindness

One of the reasons Rod decided to work at HALEO was his desire to help people. As a manager throughout his career in the mental health field, he found that sleep problems often took a back seat to other disorders. In his opinion, most people suffering from insomnia are still unaware that there are therapies that can help them, and he wants to bring them the solution to such troubles.

Educator

At HALEO, Rod’s main role, in addition to developing the company, is to educate people. He seeks to teach company executives about the mental and financial consequences of poor sleep on their employees, focusing his efforts on Western Canada, where he already has experience in business development. His unique expertise makes him an ideal representative for HALEO.
