The time change is an existential issue for many people. While the Quebec population is already sleep-deprived, Dr. Maude Bouchard, neuropsychologist and Director of Sleep Research and Development at HALEO, insists that the time change only worsens the problem by deranging the biological clock. Some people are in an even worse position than others in the days following the time change: children, people suffering from insomnia and workers with atypical schedules. Road accidents and cardiovascular accidents are also on the rise during the week that follows.
Dr. Maude Bouchard is back on Radio-Canada to explain and popularize the scientific concepts surrounding sleep and the time change.
