The truth about insomnia - Le vrai du faux podcast

The truth is that 10-20% of the population suffers from chronic insomnia, and almost everyone has bad nights in their lives.
"Insomnia means difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep during the night, or waking up very early in the morning with no way of getting back to sleep. Some people will have all three, while others will have just one. For it to be chronic, it has to happen three times a week, and it has to have been going on for more than three months," says Dr. Maude Bouchard, neuropsychologist and Director of Research and Development at HALEO, in her third appearance on the podcast Le vrai du faux. In her first appearance on the podcast, she debunked several beliefs about sleep.
Some people are more at risk of insomnia, such as those who are more competitive, for whom a bad night's sleep means defeat, or those who are going through highly stressful events (such as the loss of a loved one or a change of job).
Even if it's not chronic, it's possible to have symptoms of insomnia, but more temporarily. Everyone has bouts of bad sleep. It's never too early to adopt good sleep habits. Good sleep can mean a better immune system, better concentration during the day and better control of your emotions.
